Head Chef

We have an exciting opportunity in our busy kitchen for a full time Head Chef! Do you love working in a vibrant kitchen? Do you have a passion for working with people who love fresh, locally sourced or home grown food? Are you a professionally trained chef with previous experience up to Head Chef level? The role is full time, 5 days a week includes weekends with the usual hours being day time only with some Friday nights during the summer  You will be joining an amazing Team, working in one of Warwickshire’s best known rural cafes and there is plenty of room to grow in the role for the right candidate who is looking for a new challenge.

Responsibilities:

Team

  • To manage the Chef Team and to support the Kitchen Manager in managing & developing the Kitchen Team as a whole.
  • To work with the Café Manager to ensure the Kitchen Team and FOH Team are working well together and that any challenges are addressed as they arise.
  • To work with the Shop Team to ensure our menus always incorporate the best seasonal products.

Create Great Food

  • To produce great tasting food for our customers, ensuring a high quality of food is continuously produced, always using seasonal ingredients and working with the best ingredients available from our Farm Shop.
  • To ensure any customer complaints are managed appropriately during service and actions are put in place if necessary, immediately to rectify.

Menu Management

  • To manage a seasonal, great tasting, interesting menu throughout the year, ensuring that this menu hits our budget.
  • To work with the Kitchen Manager to ensure that we are getting the most competitive prices from our suppliers.
  • To work with the Team to ensure we are managing and recording waste, minimising the value of stock thrown away whilst ensuring that food safety and quality is not compromised.
  • To work with the Kitchen Manager to make sure that we have the optimum amount of stock on site, so that we can always meet customers orders. Overall accountability of stock sits with the Head Chef and the Kitchen Manager will support.
  • To work with the Kitchen Manager to ensure our menus are compliant with food safety legislation.
  • To write and cost menus for private functions as requested by customers.

Hygiene

  • To support the Kitchen Manager so that the kitchen is maintained to a high standard of hygiene at all times and that it always complies with food safety legislation.
  • To support the Kitchen Manager to ensure compliance with EHO visits and we achieve a 5/5 rating at our next spot visit.
  • To lead by example with regards to hygiene standards set, ensuring the Team are always clear on what needs to be done and best practice is followed.
