National Cream Tea Day is coming up on Friday – and what better way to celebrate than by bringing back our rather splendid offer for the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Enjoy a half price Cream Tea when you join us at Hilltop between 2.30-5pm Monday to Friday, this week and next.
No need to book for this one, come along and relax inside or outside enjoying our perfect Hilltop view, on a day to suit you (between Tues 24th June and Friday July 4th).
Cream or Jam first?
The big question! The cream tea tradition flourished in the West country following the tourism boom in the 1850s driven by the opening of the railway. And the debate over which to spread first has raged almost as far back as that, dividing Cornwall and Devon. According to etiquette, you should always spread your jam first before dolloping your clotted cream on top. But we don’t mind either way!
